RATS!

I love nature and wildlife, but occasionally we had a little too much of both where we lived in Laoang. With hot temperatures and plenty of humidity, windows were always open and fans were constantly running.

Geckos were a dime a dozen, and ants were forever parading on our beds and over our suitcases.

But Susan's wildlife sanctuary took the cake - as well as most of the clothes in her bags. RATS! And of course this gave new meaning to the phrase Fruit of the Loom.

When we discovered evidence of the clothes-eating rats, our host quickly arranged for a humane rat trap. It literally took minutes for the bait to attract a critter! The problem was that our very humane host simply released our catch right outside the front door, enabling the critter and his kin to make return visits to the buffet in Susan's bag.

  1. Eeeewwwwww. I have to agree with Sean Connery in Indiana Jones- rats are the pits! I wonder why they gnawed through all of those clothes. Interesting rat traps- too bad they didn't bring a more permanent end to the problem.
